From Monterey Peninsula Airport (Approx 20 minutes)

  1. Exit the airport and turn left on Highway 68 East to Los Laureles Grade Highway G20 (approx. 3 miles).
  2. Make a right onto Los Laureles Grade and continue over the mountain until the road mends at Carmel Valley Road (approx. 6 miles).
  3. Turn left onto Carmel Valley Road Highway G16 and go approximately 2 miles.
  4. You will see the Country Garden Inns (Hidden Valley Inn) sign on the right side of the road, next to the Hidden Valley Institute of the Arts.

From San Francisco/San Jose Airports

  1. Take Highway 101 south to Prunedale.
  2. At Prunedale, take Highway 156 west (there will be a “Monterey Peninsula” sign).
  3. At Castroville, stay to the left — the road will become Highway 1 South.
  4. Take Highway 1 south to Carmel. The road narrows after the Ocean Avenue exit.
  5. Turn left at the next light, which is Carmel Valley Road G16, and go 11.6 miles.
  6. You will see the Country Garden Inns (Hidden Valley Inn) sign on the right side of road next to the Hidden Valley Institute of the Arts.

From Los Angeles (Approx 6.5 hours)

  1. Take Highway 5 North approx 3.5 hours to Highway 46 West “Paso Robles.”
  2. From 46 West, exit onto Highway 101 North toward Salinas.
  3. At Salinas, exit left onto Abbott Street.
  4. Take Abbott Street to Spreckles Boulevard and turn left.
  5. Follow Spreckles Boulevard to Highway 68 West toward Monterey Peninsula.
  6. Continue down Highway 68 for 8.5 miles.
  7. Turn left at light onto Los Laureles Grade.
  8. Continue on Los Laureles Grade over the mountain for 5.8 miles.
  9. Turn left at the end of Los Laureles Grade onto Carmel Valley Road G16.
  10. Proceed 1.7 miles to Country Garden Inns (Hidden Valley Inn).
  11. You will see the Country Garden Inns (Hidden Valley Inn) sign on the right side of road next to the Hidden Valley Institute of the Arts.

  1. Exit Highway 101 North up the California Coast through Big Sur.
  2. In Carmel (2nd signal), turn right onto Carmel Valley Road G16.
  3. Proceed 11.6 miles to Country Garden Inns (Hidden Valley Inn).

"We found it to be a treasure!"

We were very happy for the nightly rate compared to the other offerings in the area at outrageous prices…it was gorgeous with sunshine all around.

Our room was clean, spacious, and pleasant. Our room was cleaned very well while we were out for the day each time, they re-did it like it was when we arrived. Plenty of towels were provided and changed out daily, which I usually find to be a problem at most inns and hotels. All in all this place was a great place to stay in the area when visiting Carmel, Monterey, and Big Sur. It made a very nice "home base" to come back to after each outing. I'd stay there again without question!

"A Great Stay!"

Speeding up the 1 after a visit to Hearst Castle, we made the late checkout of 8pm at 8:45pm. The young man at the front desk was refreshingly cheery, and checked us in with no problems….our room was clean, pleasant, and simple….everything was remarkably clean, which is more important to me than decor…. The staff is very friendly and the location is great.

Check-in was a breeze, the concierge was very courteous and efficient. We arrived much earlier then expected, but we were still able to check into our room early. Hotel is completely secluded with no road noise and stunning gardens throughout. The room was even better with a private wood deck, king bed, and a huge bathroom. The wicker decor surprisingly fit in with the room and wasn't a distraction.

The service here was outstanding. We woke up and went to breakfast. Great breakfast, especially since it was free with the room! When we asked for some additional cream, the attendant was back in ten seconds with it. Every request was met with a smile and fast service.

Quiet and Beautiful

I stayed at the Hidden Valley Inn. Very comfortable room. Wonderfully peaceful setting. Mountains, trees and clear skies. Very upscale breakfast area with a great view. Great staff. Can't wait to stay there again.

Quick Get Away

When ever we want a little get away close to home we always visit the Country Garden Inns. The gentleman (Skip I believe his name is) is always very friendly. The rooms are always clean and decorated very cute. The complimentary breakfast and wine-and-cheese hour is complimented with beautiful views of the lush green valley. This inn is a very quiet place and perfect for relaxing by the pool.
